Mỳ vằn thắn Hàng Chiếu

Such a long day. I had a headache doing the physics weekly test  in the morning and a sore throat screaming out for the boys during the basketball game in the afternoon. Fortunately, I did well on the test and the boy won so I didn’t have to put up with (my own) laments.

When I came home at 8 p.m., Mom and Dad hadn’t been home yet. Normally, this is the busiest time of the year for them. They left me a note telling me to take my little sis out for dinner. I needed to regain the energy lost during the day so I agreed right away with my sister’s offer to go for two big bowls of Mì vằn thắn.

Today, I didn’t have to stay at school for the military training, but it was too late to notify my mom that I’d be home for lunch. Trust me, I wasn’t in the mood to enrage her.

With only a 20,000 VND bill left in my pocket, I headed toward the Old Quarter. I knew just the place.

Bánh xèo Thái Hà

Yesterday, after class, I picked Phuong up so we could go shopping and find her something to wear at her sister’s wedding. Running through the maze of clothing stores with two empty stomachs was not a choice. Neither was embarrassing ourselves not be able to squeeze ourselves into size 2. Hence we decided to go for a couple of bánh xèo, one of my favorite light snacks.
